April 2013

Dear students!
Our great project 2012-2013 is over. I've got an email from Ilse - a journalist from Germany, who supported these projects during all these years. Just read!
Dear Friends

Like every year, Todd's Global Project (2012/2013) is completed in late April/early May now.

So, also  on behalf of Todd Kellaher in Palmer / Massachusetts / USA, I sincerely thank you and your students for your lively and impressive participation within the current school year 2012/2013. I think that Todd/USA is going to run another global project in the new, upcoming school year 2013/2014 for you.

I myself, however, will not be available to participate anymore, because I'm going to carry out additional new tasks, domestic and abroad, due to my profession as journalist during that time span then.
So I sincerely say goodbye to you today and want to thank each of you for the great cooperation and wonderful friendship over the past (almost) 4 years in my spare time.

It has been amazing what awesome and wonderful posts you - and especially your students - have created, collected and sent during this school year to Todd's Global Project 2012 / 2013 again. A really GIANT GREAT COMPLIMENT to you all!!

If you like,  just take a few seconds time now and browse/scroll through Todd's common project blog 2012/2013. It has been a truly wonderful global project work by you and Todd:

The students' essays

When I think about the United States I image its symbols: its stars and stripes of the country’s flag, the American eagle on the coat of arms and the national anthem. In addition I associate America with a famous "Uncle Sam", the Statue of Liberty in New York and the White House. And of course America is in such national sports as American football and baseball; fast-food - burgers and hot dogs and apple pies. The USA for me is also New York's Broadway, the Philadelphia Liberty Bell, Washington museums, Harvard University, Boston, Miami, sunny resorts, a fabulous Disneyland, a  bright Las Vegas and the capital of the world film industry and show business Los Angeles

The United States is considered as the “land of great opportunities”. Any of the fifty American states can be compared to European countries in terms of population and the size. The territory of the US includes everything: snow, desert, wild prairies and forests, agricultural areas, and cultural and economic center. And, of course, it is the home country for different nationalities.
I like history very much, and the history of the US is unordinary. It is full of exciting events, different important dates, which are connected with the development of the whole big country.
Since the founding of the young state (1776), the most advanced in all bright, motivated and desperate global minds, who dreamed to break the stereotypes set in their centuries-old powers, to try to realize the most daring ideas and concepts in a new young country came here. Thanks to such a desire, the modern U.S. stands out from the rest of their economic, political, educational and industrial systems, proclaiming the motto «In God we trust! »

Dmitry, 16

When I am thinking about United States I imagine how huge America`s contribution to politics, economy, science and information technologies is. The nation had brought a personal computer to the whole world what caused incredible IT revolution in the mid-1980s. United States dollar is an international currency  being used in almost every financial transaction for over fifty years now. For me, as well as for other people in other countries, it is very hard to imagine today`s world without the US. Americans are the nation I truly admire.
 Alexey, 15

When I am thinking of the USA, I remembered about wars and revolutions. The USA’s people initiated  many wars. These wars killed many good people and their families.
And also I think about the USA’s scientific achievements. They gave the world different kinds of cars, much kinds of food (for example, cacao, tomatoes, corn, potatoes). Their scientists made news machines, found drugs against diseases.
Besides Americans are very busy people. They don’t have much time and they buy semi-finished food. So fast food aooeared in the USA for busy Americans. Billions of people every day eat in these restaurants.  Because of this people are very fat.
